| The BDEG Program was first created by the Colorado legislature in 2006 (HB-1360), with the intent to improve and expand the ability to evaluate novel bioscience discoveries made at local research institutions. The goal of the grants being the expedition of the process of licensing and commercializing products. In 2007, the legislation modified the program to include biofuels research and to complement SBIR/STTR recipients (HB-1060). Recently, the program was retailored once more (HB-1001). This legislation eliminates the SBIR/STTR requirement, redefines biofuels, and includes funding for early-stage companies that license technology from a Colorado research institution. |
